RUBC fundraising for 2012

RUBC has a long tradition of rowing excellence, over recent years, the club has gone from strength to strength.

RUBC continues to be successful, with our crews competing at British University competitions, Heads of the River races and at the Henley Regatta each year. We are extremely proud of our achievements to date, and the talent and determination of our athletes was demonstrated in their recent Olympic success at Beijing 2008, in which Reading Rowers bought home three medals.

Since the boat club burnt down in 1989, we have struggled to have adequate boats to support our athletes. Our vision is to carry on the momentum of success enjoyed in recent years, and to achieve this, it is essential that we continue to invest in our equipment. This year, as a result, we have launched our 2012 campaign. In the build up to the 2012 Olympics, we hope to raise over £150,000 to purchase new equipment.

How you can help: We have already raised over £62,000 (June 2010) in pledges from our alumni and sponsors, and hope that you will join them in making a donation. Many people have already pledged donations ranging from one-off gifts of £20 to monthly donations of £50 or more. Regular gifts can be monthly, quarterly or annual, and setting up a Direct Debit is quick, easy and secure.

How to give: It would be fantastic and truly appreciated if you were able to make a gift towards the Boat Club. Your support, no matter how modest you feel it may be, will make a huge difference. If you would like to make a donation to RUBC, please either print the form, complete and return it to us or complete the donation form on the University website (but please make sure that the Boat Club is noted on the form when you are asked where you would like your money to go) We look forward to welcoming you to our growing network of donors.

Gift aid: If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase your gift by 28% by giving via Gift Aid. This allows us to reclaim the income tax on your donation. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim the additional tax above the basic rate on your tax return.

Government match: For the next two years, the government will match 33% of all donations to the University. This means that for every £3 donated to the University, the government will give us an extra £1.
